Our Clinics & Services.
-
Health Promotion
Health promotion advice and screening of lifestyle activities are performed by our practice nurses. You can make an appointment at reception for any of these services without being referred by the doctor. The areas that we cover include smoking cessation, diet, exercise, alcohol, well person checks, blood pressure screening and travel advice.
We also have disease management clinics for asthma, chronic respiratory problems, heart disease and diabetes which are run jointly by the doctor and nurse.
If you would like to find out more about any of these services please ask at reception.
-
Minor Surgery
Some minor procedures which do not require referral to hospital are done in the surgery in a dedicated minor surgery suite. Your doctor will advise you if your condition is suitable for treatment here and a special appointment will be arranged. This almost always involves a shorter waiting time than being referred to the hospital.
-
Maternity
Antenatal care is carried out by both your doctor and your midwife. Your usual doctor can continue to look after you throughout your pregnancy.
-
Cervical Screening
Cancer of the cervix can be prevented and all female patients between 25 and 64 years are advised to have regular smear tests. These are important because they can detect early signs of disease which is easily treated. A recall system is operated to remind you when your test is due.
Our practice nurses run clinics for these tests throughout the week at various times. Please ask at reception for details and a leaflet.
-
Breast Examinations
Our nurses are trained to teach you how to examine your breasts regularly. If you notice any lumps please arrange to see your doctor.
-
Family Planning
All the doctors provide contraceptive services. Our nurses are also fully trained to give advice.
More information on coil fittings can be found here.
-
Child Health Development
All children are offered developmental checks at eight weeks, eight to nine months and 18 months. These are planned and shared by your health visitor and doctor and are carried out at the surgery. You will receive appointments automatically for your children (over eight months of age) via the computer call-up system.
-
Diabetic X-Pert Programme
A six week group programme for newly diagnosed Type 2 diabetics which includes information, advice and guidance from specially trained nurses covering areas such as weight management, exercise and diet. You will also learn about the latest developments and treatments, as well as tips on how to self-manage your condition. You will be able to discuss issues that you might have in managing your condition and help others.

Pain Management Service - Rehab Direct
What is persistent pain?
Chronic or persistent pain refers to pain that lasts for more than 3 months, despite medication or treatment. Unlike acute pain, which serves as a warning sign of injury or illness, chronic pain persists after the initial cause has healed. Sometimes, pain can manifest without any history of an injury or operation.
Chronic/persistent pain can significantly impact your life, both physically and emotionally. It can:
• Limit your ability to perform daily activities
• Interfere with sleep
• Lead to fatigue
• Affect mood and mental health wellbeing
• Strain relationships
What is the Pain Management Service?
The remote service provides easy, direct access to experienced professionals who are specifically trained in pain management.
This service is appropriate for patients over the age of 16 presenting with pain that has persisted for 6 months or more.
The programme aims to:
• Support you with specialist Pain Practitioners and personal Health & Wellbeing Coaches
• Help you understand how chronic pain develops and persists
• Show you ways to manage your pain
• Support your independence
• Improve your quality of life
• Help find the best medicines for your pain
Patients are offered a 16-week programme where they can explore a range of modules and tools to help manage their own pain. This service is not suitable for patients awaiting investigation or treatment for their pain, or patients experiencing complex mental health issues.
